How is the Game Played? (Teer Result Online Shillong)

Shillong Teer is played six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, excluding Sundays. Although the game itself is relatively simple to play, it is immensely popular, with more than 5,000 Teer counters in the state of Meghalaya and rapidly rising, which has remained a cultural phenomenon.

Each day of play has two rounds, with 50 talented archers firing 30 arrows in the first-round of shooting, then firing a different amount of shooting arrows after a brief interval in the second round of the game (20 arrows).

The results of the game are based on the total number of arrows that hit the target in the two rounds of shooting and the players are betting on the last two numbers of that amount.

The first-round results are often available at 4:00 p.m. and the second round by 5:00 p.m., but there can be slight changes depending on the season, and minor changes during the summer and winter months because of weather and daylight.

What is Shillong Teer Game?

Shillong Teer is both an archery-based lottery and a modern wagering activity built on the basis of an age-old skill. This game has players betting on the last two digits of the number of arrows hitting the target after the archers have shot two rounds. Luck plays a major part in the game, but the fun is in the almost pseudo-scientific attempts to predict what those outcomes will be.

The term “Teer” comes from the local Khasi dialect and means “Arrow,” establishing the game’s deep connection to the archery traditions of the Khasi community. In the past, it was much more than a game or a way to wager: it was a celebration of ability, skill, and community, providing a venue for archers to display their skills in a friendly environment of respect and rivalry.

Over time, the game grew in popularity around Meghalaya and surrounding areas and started to change from simple competitions or celebrations into betting based on a different purpose.

As thousands of people started to congregate to watch the games and bet on their outcomes, betting shifted the focus of the game from an archery tradition matched with ultimate skill to a betting phenomenon that embraced tradition while utilizing chance.

How Shillong Teer Lottery Became Legal?

Shillong Teer became a legitimate activity under the scrutiny of the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act of 1982, which legalized Teer, and legitimized it as a regulated betting practice, as opposed to illegal gambling.

The campaign for legality occurred when Captain Williamson A. Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya at the time, backed with the state legislative assembly, legalized the Act.

Today, with oversight from the state government, all Teer gambling or betting practices regulated by the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Act of 1982 – to ensure that it’s done legally, objectively or fairly, and in a controlled manner.

The British Influence on Teer

A widely accepted tale about how Shillong Teer began dates back to the British colonial period, when Shillong served as the capital of Assam.

The British were obviously living in exile from the relentless heat of the Indian plains, and they were fascinated with the cool and comfortable temperature seasoned by the hills of Meghalaya. When the British were settled into the Khasi Hills, they observed the traditional archery of the Khasi people, and they began to enjoy the sport and the competition aspects of it.

The British peoples mesmerized by the competitive aspect of the sport that connected with betting systems recognised in their own country. They then brought in the lottery component and organized the betting, which eventually contributed to what we acknowledge as Shillong Teer today.

What's the Future Looking Like for Shillong Teer?

Shillong Teer’s future is an exciting mix of great and challenging things. It is changing due to new rules, new technology, and new live styles, just like other long-time games, Teer is also moving to the web – people are much more likely to look online or on a phone app to look, instead of waiting to see the results.

This move to online technology will likely attract many new players. If the game improves, many more players can find the game. The flip side will be more challenging regulation and equal access opportunities.

Teer is a game of chance, and there are no guarantees of winning. It's important to play responsibly and understand the risks involved.
