How Does the Game Work?
Teer is a traditional archery-based lottery game played six days a week in Meghalaya, from Monday to Saturday. The game takes a break on Sundays, staying true to its long-standing cultural schedule. Each day, the game is conducted in two rounds. In the first round, 50 professional archers each shoot 30 arrows at a designated target. In the second round, the same group of archers fires 20 arrows each. The number of arrows that successfully hit the target is tallied, and the last two digits of the total form the result for that round.
The first-round result is usually declared around 4:00 p.m., followed by the second-round result at approximately 5:00 p.m. However, these timings are subject to seasonal adjustments—slightly altered during summer and winter to accommodate daylight changes.
